Arterial and Venous Dopplers
Scans of the upper and lower extremities are done using a handheld device (transducer) applied to areas of the arms or legs where the arteries and veins are located. Sound waves are used to produce a visual image of the actual artery or vein, and to measure the blood flow in them.
Carotid Doppler Testing
A technique that evaluates blood flow through a blood vessel is usually part of this exam. It’s most frequently used to screen patients for blockage or narrowing of the carotid arteries, a condition called stenosis, which may increase the risk of stroke.
Comprehensive Physical Exam
Also known as executive physicals, typically include laboratory tests, chest x-rays, pulmonary function testing, audiograms, EKGs, heart stress tests, vascular age tests, urinalysis, and mammograms or prostate exams depending on gender.
EKG and Exercise Stress Test
A doctor or trained technician performs the exercise stress test, also known as an exercise electrocardiogram, treadmill test, graded exercise test, or stress EKG. It lets your doctor know how your heart responds to being pushed. You’ll walk on a treadmill.
